PROSPECTION FOR NEW IUC PARTNERSHIPS
In the light of discussions with the Belgian Minister of Development Cooperation concerning a concentration of aid interventions and a focus on a more limited number of countries for UDC, the Bureau UOS decided in March 2010 that the focus for a next IUC call will be on the partner countries of the Belgian development cooperation.
Within this group of partner countries, priority will be given to start prospection in the following list of countries where VLIR-UOS has a strong history and further UDC development is realistic on short notice: Uganda, Tanzania, Vietnam (with a region role/focus), Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Morocco, South Africa (with a regional role/focus) and Benin.
More news on the timing of a new call will not be available before VLIR-UOS has more information on the available budgets for the 2011 and consequent annual programmes. More in particular, we are awaiting first the formation of a new Belgian government and a new appointed minister of development cooperation. |

ESPOL: Results from 10 Years of IUC Partnership The IUC partnership with the Escuela Superior Politecnica Del Litoral (ESPOL) started in 1998. Now, 10 years later, we have the results of the cooperation between VLIR-UOS and ESPOL. These are presented in the following powerpoint presentation . VLIR-UOS is very pleased with the impact and the benefits of the cooperation and hopes to achieve the same or better results with the other partner programmes. Also the new strategies of the post-IUC activities of ESPOL are presented. The ESPOL case shows that there are multiple ways of funding research projects, also after the partner programme with VLIR-UOS. | |
